We admit that fitting those small steel balls and springs into the side of each lever is the most fiddly job in building a lever frame kit. While many people find the recommended method using the special tools supplied quite satisfactory, others have come up with their own ideas. This video may be helpful to some.

Note that it may be even easier to place the spring before positioning the guide.
