All interlocking frames kits supplied from February 2013 will be compatible with Eemeck electro-mechanical locking.

This involves a number of changes to the configuration of all interlocking frames.

Mounting

Previous frames had mounting holes in extended frame bearers, so the frame was fixed at front and rear. This will no longer be the case and bearers will be accordingly shorter.

Instead, mounting bars are fitted under the frame and run side-to-side. These bars extend beyond the edges of the frame and contain mounting holes.

Eemeck

Electrical locks may be attached to the front mounting bar. These have vertical actuators that interact with the interlocking tappets to achieve electro-mechanical locking.

Electrical locks may be added on a per-lever basis. A release button panel is integral to the actuator assembly.

Electrical locks may interact with tappets in various ways. Different tappets are available to suit each option:
N Tappet can be electrically locked in the normal position.
R Tappet can be electrically locked in the reverse position.
B Tappet can be electrically locked in both the normal and reverse positions.
C Tappet can be electrically locked in the central position.

Tappets

For frames that are not intended to incorporate any electrical locking, tappets of type N are supplied. This enables electrical locking to be added in the future, and N type locking is the most common. If a different type of locking is subsequently required, then replacement tappets can be supplied to suit.

Diagram Panel

The diagram panel will be larger than previously supplied. This is because the locks cover to which it is hinged is larger in order to protect the electrical locks from being easily manually overridden.

Will the ITF specification and an updated SigScribe4 (v1.2.9?) to be released to allow electrical locking to be specified?
Or do we have to wait until SigScribe4 v10?
