On non-bogied wagons, wheels are attached to the sideframes which are directly attached to the wagon body. Normally found on short wheel-base wagons.
On bogied wagons, wheels are attached to smaller sideframes which are then attached to the wagon body by means of pivots which allows the bogie (wheels) to turn in direction of rails on curves etc. Normally found on long wheel-base wagons.
