Version 1.1.10 released

Post by modadmin »

Version 1.1.10 of SigScribe4 was released on 9 September 2008. It incorporates some fixes and a new feature.

The new feature is to permit an FPL lever to be locked normal (that is the FPL unlocked) as part of a route definition. This idea was applied on Western Australia's railways (and perhaps others - let us know) as an alternative method of providing overlap protection in certain situations.

The signal interlocking technique has been changed to overcome something that seemed like a bug, but was more correctly the result of poor software design - sorry. It was previously necessary to define signal interlocking after route definition. The problem was that as soon as you even looked at an existing route definition, any signal interlocking for that signal was immediately lost. With this version, signal interlocking is stable. On the downside, it means that existing files with any signal interlocking will need to be manually updated as described in the next paragraph.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU HAVE ANY EXISTING FILES CONTAINING SIGNAL INTERLOCKING, THEY MUST BE MANUALLY UPDATED TO WORK WITH VERSION 1.1.10. Note that this applies only to signals that have been specifically interlocked using the Interlock Signal option - not to signals whose levers show an N because of normal Route Definition. To update, load the existing file. For each signal lever for which signal interlocking has been defined, select the Signal Interlocking option from the contextual (pop-up) menu. For each interlocked signal lever select the Interlock Signal option from the contextual menu. The letter below the lever should change from upper-case N to lower-case s. When complete, save the file and it will now be compatible with this new version.

A further bug fix has repaired the ability to include an FPL as part of a Points Interlocking definition. The option was always there but it didn't work! It is obviously a little-required feature since no one had told us about the problem.

The section of the User Manual relating to Contextual Menus has been updated as required. We also apologise that there was an inconsistency in the packaged version of the User Manual for the last version while the on-line version was correct. This related to a wrong image for one of the Contextual Menus.
