Dimensions needed to draw Signal Diagrams

Post by RedFred »

The information in this post relates to frame kits supplied up to and including January 2013. Please refer to the post below for frame kits supplied from February 2013.

To finish your Lever Frame Kits, you'll want to draw a good quality Signal Diagram. If you don't already have a drawing program that you are comfortable with, or if your current one doesn't support real dimensions, one that we have found very useful and effective is Serif® DrawPlus 4 which can be downloaded free from http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/index.asp .

So that you can get your drawing under way, the following dimensions will help. You'll notice that levers are grouped in sets of six - we call each set a bay.

Lever pitch within a bay = 9.7mm (e.g. centreline of lever 1 to centreline of lever 2)
Pitch between bays = 65.2mm (e.g. centreline of lever 1 to centreline of lever 7)

Diagram width:
for 6 levers = 81mm
for 12 levers = 126mm
for 18 levers = 191mm
for 24 levers = 256mm
for 30 levers = 321mm
for 36 levers = 387mm
for 42 levers = 452mm
for 48 levers = 517mm
for 54 levers = 582mm
for 60 levers = 647mm

Diagram height: (based on Locking Bar Slots obtained from Quotation function)
for 2 or 3 slots = 58mm
for 4 slots = 67mm
for 5 slots = 77mm
for 6 slots = 86mm
for 7 slots = 96mm
for 8 slots = 106mm
for 9 slots = 115mm
for 10 slots = 125mm
for 11 slots = 134mm
for 12 slots = 144mm
for 13 slots = 154mm
for 14 slots = 163mm
for 15 slots = 173mm
for 16 slots = 182mm
for 17 slots = 192mm
for 18 slots = 202mm
for 19 slots = 211mm
for 20 slots = 221mm

If you would like to share any of your drawings which others might use as a starting point for theirs, email them to me and we'll organise to publish them.
Happy training,
RedFred
