wain77, Those two are not equivalent. The possibilities with 1N;2R|3R are as follows (F=free; L=locked; X=either N or R): 1 2 3 NL NF NF NF RF NF NF NF RF NF RF RF RF XL XL To create logical equivalence, you could use: 1N;(3N)2R 1N;(2N)3R 1N;2B,3B ... but this takes u...

Aaron,

The hole that I am referring to in the tie-bar doesn't have anything to do with metal plates or springs. It is the one through which a point motor or a Point-wit mechanism operating rod fits. What gauge/style of Peco points are you using?

It can be done with some care and preparation. For each set of points: 1 Position the points mid way using a simple wedge between each blade and stock rail (e.g. cocktail stick). 2. Drill a 1.5mm hole through the baseboard using the hole in the tie-bar as a guide. 3. Prepare an 8mm or 5/16" dri...

Brian, The lever that is locked is in fact the lever with index 3 (counting from 0) which is lever number 4. (I know - it's an intended change!) To specify both ways locking (as for FPLs), you use B rather than trying to define an R and N condition separately. This ITF does what you require: 6 2R:4N...

I meant to add that it is wise to roughen the surface of any notch that you are filling to give a good key for the resin; also to de-grease the surfaces.

FIXING A TAPPET FILING ERROR

One of our customers made an error when making a rather complicated tappet. The error was that he located one of the notches in the wrong place - a place where it would interfere with other operations. Rather than start from scratch and waste all of the other work on the tappet, he filled the unwant...

So we are onto a new and innovative approach. It will probably be some months before we have anything for sale, so please try to be patient....
